Our House on Fire

Almost.. thats what happened yesterday. Due to storm Gener we don't have electricity last night. My husband slept at the other room with our little girl who has a slight fever. Me and my son David slept in the other room. Robin said Rhaine would wake up and cry searching for light so he decided to lit a little candle.

But then he fall asleep and forgot the candle. It started to burn the small plastic box with toys in it. Most of the toys are made of plastic too. He woke up with lots of smoke and the box of toys already melted with fire. Good thing its leaning on a cement wall and the fire did not spread. The big orocan box with curtains, bed sheets, blanket and pillow case is under the toys of box and its cover is starting to burn too. The melted plastic also started to fall on the floor that melted the extension wire that we have for the electric fan.

It was past 3am when he woke me and shouted, "sunog! sunog!" He asked me to get Rhaine and bring her out of our house. Without thinking I immediately run to the other room and there I saw the fire. I went out without even wearing slippers while the rain is still pouring a little. He wake up David who also went out without slippers. He immediately filled the big plastic container outside our house with water and asked for help from the neighborhood. He throw water to the fire which stops it a little though there is still some small fire falling from the melted plastic. He put more water on it and that stops everything. The strong smell of melted plastic is all over our house so we stayed to a vacant house just beside us. We stayed their for more than an hour until the smoke goes out.

Only one person from the neighborhood woke up, who is his friend, and everyone I guess is sleeping soundly with the cold weather. While here we are, sitting in a dark vacant house, we almost lost our life and property. It makes me realized that everything that we have can be taken away easily so we should not value things as the most important but rather value God, family and friends more.

Thank you Lord that the fire did not spread and for keeping us safe. With lots of not so good things happening this 2012 I feel that God is reminding me to spend more time with Him and be a better servant. Though I am not a good child He still blesses our family and always helping us. Truly God is wonderful!

Rhaine's 3rd Birthday

Today is my daughter's 3rd birthday. When I ask her what she wanted to do on her birthday, she just said sing happy birthday and blow candle on her cake. Haaysss.... kids at this age are really innocent. Simple things makes them happy. She's so funny, lovable and fun to be with. She actually makes our house lively and colorful. Although sometimes she gives me head ache because of so much "kakulitan."

Will have a liitle celebration later. Robin will cook spaghetti and I already prepared fruit salad. Nanay said she would bring ice cream and Tita Weng will buy her a cake. This cake will fulfill her birthday wish, hehe. Anyways she also likes to have an Ipad just like his brother. I told her when she turn 7 years old. That's 4 years from now I wonder if Ipad is still available or there maybe a better gadget.

Thank you Lord for my wonderful kids!

Our First New Year Celebration at our own House

We just move May of last year to our new house. We celebrated Christmas at my mom's house so we decided to welcome the new year at our house. We don't have any vistor so its just the four of us, me, my husband and my two kids. We prepared spaghetti, bread, ham and fruits for the evening. Nanay gave us something for desert like ube, ginatang bilo-bilo and graham. She also give us kare-kare and menudo. I let my kids sleep in the afternoon so that they will be awake on new years eve. After eating we spend the night watching fireworks (we don't have any fireworks except for a small "lusis" that we did not use) and taking pictures. Our neighbor had a video and drinking session so my husband stayed there a little bit. I think we slept our 2am and in the morning we went to Batangas to have a splash at Endaya Cove. It was a great day to welcome the year 2012. Thank you Lord for all your blessings!!!

Christmas 2011 at Mamu's House

It should be our first Christmas at our own house but then we decided to celebrate it at my mom's house along with my brother Darwin's family. Like last year I cooked some of the food like kaldereta, fried chicken and carbonara. I also made coffee jelly as requested by my mom. It was a quiet evening since none of our neighbors are outside. Anyway my kids enjoy the night specially when its time to open their gifts. Good thing they sleep in the afternoon so they are awake in the Christmas eve.

Swimming at Amadeo Balite Falls

MalacaƱang announced November 7, 2011 as a regular holiday due to Eid'l Adha, a muslim feast world wide. For me, who is working in a call center its just a regular working day but of course with additional holiday pay (weeee!). It was my niece 8th birthday and we are invited to have a splash at Amadeo Balite Falls. I am not fond of swimming but my kids are really excited about it. I was told its a river and not the usual swimming pool or beach. On the way are lots of trees, looks like we are entering a forest. We arrived there past 8am and we are the only visitor. My sister-in-law actually got a little frightened how come there are no people. When lunch came a lot of people arrived. If you love nature and splashing in cold water I'm sure you will like the place. Just be careful because some of the stones are slippery. My kids started to play right away on a small pool like that is getting water from the river... with water falls. It was a fun experience and if you would like to have a little adventure you can try to visit this place. The entrance is only P60.... we got the cottage for P600.

Its all of us.... The cute little girl in yellow is Ann, the birthday girl.

Century Boneless Bangus

Century Bangus
Another item on my grocery list. They come in either 1 big fish or two medium size. I first bought this when there was news about fish kill.Since its from Century and I trust them I knew they would not sell double dead fish. Well, I have no regrets. It's really delicious, the meat is tender and not thin compare to other brandless bonesless bangus in the market. Also the marinade is lovely. It also come in spicy flavor. The price I think is P140 not bad for two medium, tasty bangus.

Purefoods Drummets

My little boy loves chicken nuggets. Every time we buy food in the grocery, chicken nuggets is definitely on the list. He eats a lot if he likes the food so I always have his favorites hot dog, sausage, nuggets and corned beef. Well one time I saw this purefoods drummets and decided to give it a try. It comes with instant gravy, you just need to mix it with 125ml of hot water, which he really enjoys. With 6 pcs of very meaty drumstick shape chicken the price is "sulit." Definitely this would be added on my grocery list.

Nanay's Kare-Kare

Nanay, my mother-in-law, is now here in the Philippines for good. I used to taste her good cooking once a year when she makes a visit. She used to work in HongKong. Now that she is a senior citizen she decided to retire. Yesterday we paid a visit to their place for lunch. She prepared beef kare-kare. I very often eat this delicacy since it is hard to cook and not an everyday food. Her cooking is really good and we even brought some of it home. I hope in the future I would learn how to do this and add it to my menu.

Happy 2nd Birthday Rhaine Danielle

Purple #2 CandleLast July 10, 2011, Sunday, my little girl Rhaine celebrated her 2nd birthday. It's a very simple celebration. We cooked spaghetti, fried chicken, hotdogs and mallows on sticks, menudo, dynamite (chili finger) and I prepared coffee jelly for desert. Her tita weng brought cake and ice cream. We just give out food to our new neighbors and celebrate the special event with our family. Our first visitor is Mamu followed by my BFF Anette. In the afternoon Tita Weng and Michael arrived. Late noon Tito Andy and his family arrived too. It was my brother Darwin as our last visitor. Bad for me since our computer is still broken I did not bother charging my digital camera. Though we don't have any pictures to keep, the memories will stay in my heart. This day the stye on her right eye is almost healed while on the other eye it just popped. I love you Rhaine!

Taiwan Placement Fee

My husband applied for a job in Taiwan and currently is waiting for a job order. He applied at Jerzon Manpower in Buendia. He already passed the interview and the medical exam. He was told once the contract arrives they need to pay for down payment and make another payment once the ticket is available. We need to prepare about P95k. Wew! I find it too big for a placement fee but he said that is the trend for Taiwan jobs. I did find Jerzon in POEA list but I really don't have any idea about working abroad. My dad mention that they have a neighbor who just left for Taiwan and did pay P95k. My husband is really excited and have lots of dream for us. Me, I have mixed emotions. I understand that he would be able to provide us better financial support but then thinking of him to be far from us really frightens me. Anyway, I guess that's how life is, it is full of risk. I pray to God that this would be for the betterment of every one.

Moving to Our New Home

We moved to our new house last Sunday. I took advantage of the Monday off since it is US Memorial Day. At least I will be at home to assist my husband fixing things. We started moving around 5:30am. My dad told me to prepare rice, water and salt because it should be the first item that we will put inside the house. It should be put in the middle of the house to have good blessing. It is my husband who put most of our items in boxes... I guess that is why most of them doesn't have label (hehehe). Anyway we don't have lots of things. Thanks to my mom for our sala and to my Tita Milet for our dining set. We used to live in a small room in my mother's in law's house and I thank God after so 6 years of getting married we now have what we can call our own home. This may not be a mansion or very big house like what most are dreaming of but I am very thankful to God for this blessing.

Mother's Day 2011

Mothers Day Flowers - Free Fast Shipping - Fresh Cut Flowers - 25 StemsWell nothing special for this day. I slept with my mom house after painting our house the day before mother's day. I wake up early around 4am, eat breakfast and take bath. I slept again after a while. We did not prepare any food for the day I just greeted my mom happy mother's day. We stayed in the house the whole day watching TV. We match Pacquiao and Mosley fight even though we are already told that Manny won the game. Mosley keeps on running and I would say its not a good fight. Mosley make it too easy for Manny. Anyway we went home around 7pm. Even though we did not make any special celebration I am very thankful for my mom. Just like what they said nobody can replace the love of a mother. Truly I thank God for giving me my mom. Once again, Happy Mother's Day! Thanks to all those people who texted me and greeted me in FB. I did not reply to any of them....

Starting a New Life

We are planning to move to our new house before the school year start this coming June. I am so excited to move and start a new life. It is going to be a new environment, new neighbor, new friends, new school and new teacher for my kid.

I already enrolled my son David at Harrell Horne Integrated School inside Pag-asa Subdivision. Good thing my husband find out that there is a gate near us where we can ride a tricycle going to the school. I already paid for his books but I still need to save money for his uniform and school materials. He will use the black shoes that we bought last school graduation and will use again his school bag. We will just dispose his old uniforms by giving it to a neighbor that will plan to enroll there. Talking about uniform I just saw a cute scrub uniform for kids at http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Women/

Thank you Lord for all this blessing and continue to guide us as we start a new life in a new place.

Weekend Get Away

Last Saturday we went to Endaya Cove to have a swim. It is also to celebrate the birthday of my Tito Pacing. The water is too cold and I did no stay in the pool for that long. Anyway my two kids enjoyed it a lot. The following day we went to Tagaytay to try our luck again in ukay-ukay. Hehehe.... good for me, for only P540 I was able to buy 2 pants, 2 jacket and a maong skirt. Some people find it cheap but for me I enjoy it. I remember I was fitting a black slacks and when I closed the zipper which is on the side, all the sudden it got broken. I can no longer open it and unable to remove the pants. I am alone in the dressing room since my mom is still digging for clothes. I tried to open the zipper to the best that I could, I am already perspiring and decided to add more force and until I totally break it. Bad me, I returned it to the tons of clothes there. But why would I pay for a pants that already has bad zipper on it. Anyway that is just one of my memorable experience in ukay-ukay. After that we went to my brother's house to have lunch. We are supposed to eat in Tagaytay with our packed lunch but we already passed the place where we can rent table. It is still a yummy lunch, I enjoyed the pinaputok na tilapia.

Endaya Clan Reunion 2011

Last February 26, 2011 we had our reunion at Cuenca Institute. The theme of the party is retro. We arrived early at my lola's house but they don't want to be there in the said event so early. We went there around 5pm and the party started at 4pm. They are already calling the family of each clan. This reunion by the way are the siblings of my grandfather on my mother's side and their families. Not lots of people are wearing retro including me. I don't have talent in dancing at all, since the party is dancing all night I am not into it. There are lots of foods as usual. Sad part is that on our side only 2 siblings of my mother come and they are actually not sure 12 or 13. I have some pictures taken but then it is still on my camera. I was able to remember the faces of some but really I can't remember their names. I am looking forward to our next reunion next year.

6th Year Wedding Anniversary

It was our 6th Year Wedding Anniversary last February 9. I file a leave for 3 days to relax as well. Nothing too fancy, we just had a dinner with our kids at Gerry's Grill in Alabang Town Center. I was able to finish 500g of grilled pusit and Robin was able to finish a sizzling sisig na bangus. David ate chicken with spaghetti.  We share a platter of veggie rice and for beverage Robin had bottomless sago't gulaman, iced tea for David and sarsi for me. Rhaine is not feeling well that night due to a little fever, though she ate a little veggie rice and take sip from David's iced tea.

The following day I went to Pag-ibig in Makati with my mom to pay for our house. My mom and I enjoy chicken sisig and sinigang na tiyan na bangus in Max's restaurant for our lunch. We passed by Glorietta where I saw a 50% sale in Human. At first I was looking for a blouse for me but I ended up buying a polo shirt for Robin. For me I was able to buy a new sandals from Mendrez, it was buy one take one. I really love items on sale.

Thank you Lord for being there with us for the past 6 years. I pray that you will continue to bless our relationship and make it stronger.

Plan for a Car

Fixing our house is our priority so I guess buying a car would not happen this year. But if in case, maybe we will get a Toyota or a Honda Civic. I would ask my husband also to study a little bit of car mechanic so that at least he would know how hot replace head gasket. It is quite expensive now to have a car repair and it is also hard to find trusted shop similar to those in Los Angeles auto repair.

Anyway, I will not think of those things as of now. First things first, we would apply for electricity and water, have a grills on our window and replace the front door with a better one. In God's time I know we will be able to get a car as too. He was able to give us a new house; for sure it is not impossible to have a car too.
