Philhealth Reimbursement

Everytime anyone of us gets hospitalized we get an assistance from my healthcard and from Philhealth. It is very very helpful, most of the time I only pay the miscellaneous and sometimes nothing at all.

One thing that I don't like about Philhealth is the reimbursement process. Have you ever tried that? Well, when I got confined last December I was not able to submit philhealth form. I paid for it first which cost me about 4K something. I was told that it would take 3 months to get the reimbursement. Wow! 3 months to process it. I wonder what needs to be done or what kind of processing are they doing that it needs 3 months. In deed after 3 months I received a letter from Philhealth and I was able to get the reimbursement. I need to undergo this process again. When I give birth last July 10, my first son also got hospitalized. I only have a form for me and I was not able to get one for my kid. Urgh! I already knew the process and in this time of crisis of course money is needed. Haayss... I hope our government will improve this and make the reimbursement faster.

  1. I agree on that.. But I'm luckier than you coz I got mine in 2 months time only. But come to think of it, what kind of process do they need to undergo that it needs 2 months? They really have to work on it.

  2. Well, poor me. My daughter was hospitalized last Feb. 2010, but until now I don't have any idea what happened to my reimbursement. No news or whatsoever...They should really really put attention to this..

  3. Just to help shed some light on the subject, PhilHealth's charter (R.A. 7875) specifies a 60 day period within which to process and pay a claim. Aside from the normal processing procedures, there are verifications made basically to ensure that there isn't any fraud and that the deductions made by the hospitals and doctors are not too low (to protect the member) and not to high (so as not to jeopardize the health insurance fund).

As for the instances the processing takes more than 60 days, there are times, unfortunately, when the number of claims become so huge that existing manpower and resources are unable to meet the deadlines. However, our friends at PhilHealth are continuously refining the procedures to ensure an acceptable balance between speed, accuracy, and manpower/resources.

  4. Hi Philhealth 101,

I am having thoughts on the process too but I am patiently waiting. I am reimbursing 19k for my maternity and I badly need the money. It's running 60 days already and I hope to get my check soon.

They said they will mail it to my address. I hope to receive it next week.

  5. mine was submitted with complete requirements in oct 24 but the latest update I got days ago is that it's for mailing. When I made a follow up call in Jan 23, it was still a check voucher. Such a long process... While I know they have limited resources, the 3-5 months wait time is called bad service. they dont wait to get my dues every month; why should i wait for this much to get what I deserve. honestly, it's red tape in there along with the typical laid back and lazy approach of government workers. I will raise my hat to a president who can make this process shorter say 2 months given the processes it needs to go through which would be fair enough. Philippines! How can we improve our economy when we can't even fix basic processes such as this? Ironic, isnt it?

  6. same here..mine was last nov and still no follow up calls whatsoever or updates from philhealth..if you try to call them,it would take too long to be accomodate.every month they get premiums from us and we wait for so long just to get what we need..so not a good service.

  7. same problem from the top complainant, my maternity reimbursement is still in process since last Jan. 11, 2012, everytime Im calling to Philhealth hotline, then the newborn screening of my baby worth 1,750.00(cheaper) is already paid for the hospital where i gave birth.. i gave birth last Nov. 11, 2011, how's my reimbursement, which is more important for me and for the baby. How come? that the reimbursement of my baby & mine will not prepared at the same time. Then now, i have another reimbursement submitted last April for my child hospitalization, just wait & see again & how long that I've have been waiting for the 2 pending request...haisst..
