Last Monday, May 31, 2010, the US celebrated Memorial Day. It is an event when they remember the soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War 2, they extended it to everyone who died in the military service. Before, most people would visit cemeteries to give honor to those who die in the military service. Now lesser people are doing that but instead they would spend the long weekend for a vacation or time with family and friends.
Its a long weekend for me too since we are supporting US and we are closed during this holiday. I just spend those 3 days at home and visited my mom to cook food for the fiesta.
One custom during memorial day is putting US flags on each grave in national cemeteries.
