Cough with Sticky White Phlegm

I have this cough accompanied with a sticky white phlegm for a week now. It is really embarrassing when coughing inside our shuttle going to work. I can help control it because my throat gets itchy and I can't help it but cough. Along with the coughing is a sticky white phlegm that comes out. That is why I see to it I have a tissue on my pocket to throw it. I am not drinking any medicine hoping that it will heal on its own. Right now I am trying to drink lots of water which I don't really like because I go to the bathroom several times while at work.

While searching online for remedy I find out that phlegm is an indication that our immune system is trying to fight an infection that is trying to access your respiratory system. However if your phlegm is not white (like brownish) you might have something serious and need to consult a physician. You can read more of this info on this link.

Here are some things that you can do to get rid of this sticky white phlegm:
  • If you are a smoker, stop it
  • Treat nasal or sinus infection that you have
  • Take an expectorant
  • Don't take cough suppressants
  • Drink plenty of fluids and liquids
  • Spit the phlegm out, don't swallow it

How to Cook Kalderetang Buto-Buto or Ribs

I noticed that lots of people are viewing my post about Kalderetang Buto-Buto which is only a story about what happen during a fiesta. I really did not put anything on how to do it. So here it is for those who are looking for it.

Ingredients:

5kl Buto-buto / Ribs
10pcs medium size onions (sliced)
1small crushed garlic
1 small bottle of pickle relish
3 big can of Reno liver spread
Chopped Siling Labuyo
salt and ground pepper
vinegar and soy sauce

How to Cook:

Cooked buto-buto in vinegar and soysauce, salt and peper until tender. Drain and separate. Saute onion and garlic. Make sure that the oil is enough that you can still add the buto-buto or ribs. But not too many that will make the food oily. Just enough that the ribs will not stick in the pan. Then add the pickles, reno, chopped siling labuyo (according to your taste). Add water using the can of big Reno (3 cans). Let it boil. Make sure to mix it once in a while. You can also add bell pepper and potatoes. My dad actually added tomato sauce. So its up to   you to make changes on this recipe. If you don't want it chili then don't add siling labuyo. My mom told me that it is the onion that makes this recipe yummy. You can add more onions if you like.

How to go to Market Market

My mom asked me to accompany her to Market, Market. She said she needs to go there to bring her bracelet (a gift from a friend)to fix it. The bracelet was broken that all the beads are removed. Good thing she did not loose any of them. Everything are still inside the small pouch where she usually put it. She was told by her friend that the store's name is Mary's Gift Collection and the repair is free.

Last Sunday after my mom attended the worship service we met at ATC. She said we can ride a bus at Ayala. So from Alabang we rode a bus and drop off at Edsa Ayala (adjacent to SM Mall). We turn right at the first street and when you reach the end you will see there a "tolda" where you can wait for the bus going to Market Market. There is also a jeepney terminal across the street. The fare is only P11. The bus is exclusive and its route is not in Edsa. I am not good in street name but it goes inside instead of going to Edsa and we were able to reach Market Market in just a few minutes. No traffic! yey! The mall is big and is surrounded by condominiums. There are lots of stalls outside and inside are lots of boutiques. We asked the customer service where Mary's is and we are told to go to 2nd Floor and enter the Fashion Market. It is like Glorietta where they have Glorietta 1 or 2 but there they have names like Fashion market, Gift Market. I don't know what other categories they have. We even saw a customer's lounge area but not able to enter it.

The fashion market displays different clothing and accessories. It somewhat similar to Greenhills where there are lots of stores with very affordable prices. We first look for Mary's Gift Accessories. The old ladies there which I think are the owner looks Chinese. She even asked the year date of my mom. She cut a ruberrized nylon looked like thing and use it to fix my mom's bracelet. While she was doing it I checked on the prices of their bracelet and they are quite expensive. The cheapest that I saw is P1K, I even saw a P3K bracelets. My mom's bracelet is color black. She said its about 2 years old and the color did not fade at all. They uses different stones for their accessories. I actually saw a pearl earrings for about P500 which I would like to buy. Maybe next time when we come back.

Making A Small Room Bigger

Use What You Have Decorating : Transform Your Home in One Hour With Ten Simple Design Principles -- Using the Space You Have, the Things You Like, the Budget You ChooseWe might move to our small house next year (I hope). It is a bare unit so we need to do a lot of fixing. I am excited about it and it really feels different if you are going to decorate your "own" house. You don't feel the money is wasted since it is your own home and you have this happiness looking at the finish product (even though I don't have a finish product yet , hehehe). Since we have a small space I am searching online on how to make a small room bigger. What I learned so far is that I should use light color for the wall. They say dark colors makes a room smaller. You should invite more light in the room to make it bigger. Adding a big mirror can also add light and make an illusion of a bigger space. I should also have good lightings to make an illusion of a bigger room. Avoiding clutter is also one way which I don't know how I will do since I have kids at home. Item that can maximize space is very helpful. I will keep in mind all of these information so that I already have an idea of what to do when we start fixing our new house.

Mobo or Proc Problem

After eating lunch yesterday, my husband helped me in checking our broken computer. It was not turning on so I thought it is the power supply. What I did was I removed all the cards (video and modem), disconnected all the drives (hard drive, floppy and DVDRW), disconnected power to the processor, take out the memory, leaving only the mobo and power supply. When I tried to turn it on the fan on both the power supply and proc will spin for a few seconds then would go off. I am already thinking of getting a new power supply. Our neighbor says they have 2 computers at home that currently they are not using. My husband took it so that we can test the power supply but then both computer is using a smaller plug. Their power supply is only 20pin while ours has 24 pins. Good thing my husband remembered that her ate also have a computer. I am not sure what is the problem of that computer but that computer does power on. The first that we checked is if it is using 24pin. Yes they are compatible. What we did first is we connected the working power supply to my computer and it did the same thing. It spin for a few seconds then go off. We connected our power supply to that computer and it worked fine. Telling us then than the power supply is ok and something is causing it to stopped. The only thing left inside the computer is the mobo and processor. I wonder which is bad. I guess it will take a while before we will be able to fix it. I have a lot of  bills to pay. I still need to save money to replace which ever is bad. For the meantime goodbye Frontierville, goodbye, facebook, goodbye ikariam and goodbye DOTA. @_@

Our Computer would not Power On

My husband was playing Frontierville when all of the sudden our computer shutdown. I am already sleeping when he said it. I checked it last night and it looks like the AVR has no problem. Our monitor and speakers are getting power from it. We had this computer for more than 3 years now. I remember this is the first thing that we bought when I got my first credit card. It is customized by us, we selected the parts and let PC Corner do the assembly. I paid for it for 1year. The only part that I replace so far is the DVD writer. I will check it later. I guess it might be the power supply that has gone bad. I hope its only a glitch hehehe. Anyway, I already started to browse at PC Express website for a new power supply. It cost around P1500, wew. Bad timing, I have a lot of bills.... haayss but what can I do.... we use our computer everyday. We can go without the television but I guess not with the computer. Maybe I should sell our TV to get a PS... hehehe just joking. Haaays really bad... @_@

PNP Bad Image

I don't really watch television that is why last Monday when I went to work that is the only time that I find out about the hostage taking of the Chinese Tourists. Browsing the web, reading comments from different people even though I haven't watch the actual footage it looks like most people are blaming our police. They said that our police are not trained and look very funny during the said incident. They are not serious about the problem and doing things without a very good plan or maybe no plan at all.

Some countries already announced a travel ban and most OFWs are affected. OFW in HK are I guess the most affected people in abroad. One effect of this is less tourism in our country. Police in our country already have a bad image. Me as a Filipino, every time I saw a police, I always think that they will ask for "kotong." That is their trade mark to me. Bribery and kotong, everything can be arrange by money. I don't know how our policemen will change their image. I am actually hopeless. I still believe that there are still very few police that are good but still most of them are corrupt. This incident makes me feel that our policemen are really no good.

Looking at them standing at their post. Smoking, laughing very loud, with a big tummy, chatting with other police... sorry to say I don't feel respect to them anymore. I am afraid of them because they might use their power to abuse people. They use their gun and authority not for the betterment of our countrymen but for their own good. I am sad that this is happening and I hope someone would stand up and change this image and make the Filipino people proud of our police. I hope someone would stand up so that our respect for them will be restored. I hope... I hope...

Casio Exilim Z80 Battery not Charging

Exilim EX-Z80 8.1 MP Digital Camera - GreenIf I am not mistaken I got my Casio Exilim Z80 2 years ago. I used to bring it on different occasions like birthdays, family gatherings, travel, date with friends, school activities, parties, programs etc. Most of the content of my external hard drive are pictures taken by this camera. I use picassa editor it making the size of the picture smaller. I used the highest resolution on my camera so one picture has a size of 1MB or more. I use the picassa software to lessen the pixel and make size around 100-300KB so that I can easily upload over the internet specially in facebook.

On the manual it says that if the red light turns off on the battery charger then that means that the battery is already full. Usually it takes an hour to fully charge it. The first issue that I encounter was its been charging for an hour or two and still the red light is on. I thought it was charge properly but then after a few shots it is low bat already so that is why I don't have lots of pictures in avilon zoo. This the same thing that happen when we had our team building at work, after a few shots it turned off. One thing I noticed, before when I do the charging the battery gets warm but now it doesn't. I am not sure where is the problem. If its with the battery or with the charger. I hope I can find an owner of the same camera so that maybe I can try charging my battery user his charger. Haaysss....

Slides and Ladder

Me and David met with Mamu at SM Southmall last Sunday. David needed a black slacks for the coming Buwan ng Wika and my mom says he would pay half of the bill. He actually needs to wear barong and slacks but Robin was able to borrow barong from his cousin RA. While waiting for Mamu, David and I, had some snacks. We bought coke float from Mcdonalds and buy doritos and cheetos. My mom haven't eaten lunch yet so when she arrived so bought chicken and rice from Greenwich. David loves chicken and gravy so my mom also buy one for him. He is not like other kids who only bites a little of their food. He was able to finish the rice and I ate the left over chicken. He prefers eating the skin and the brown part of the chicken.

After eating we then started to hunt for a black slacks. SM is under renovation so it is quite hard to look for what we need. When we reached the department store, we look for childrens wear. A lot of items are on sale but then the slacks that we bought is not on sale. I guess part of the job of sales lady is having a number of sales. Different sales lady from different brands started to offer different slacks. One sales lady even remove my sons shorts without going to the fitting room just to see if it fits. Well after a few try we are able to decide which one to bought.

David started to ask for a toy. I have a tight budget so I told him to buy next time. Mamu give him P100 to buy a toy. Good things there are lots of toys to choose from P100. Kids loves buying toys but most of the time after a week or so they would ignore that it and just throw it under the bed or something. I remember the last time we went to SM I bought him a small billiard table. All of the balls are missing now so he only have the small table left.(hehehe) This time he got "Slides and Ladder." It is the same as snakes and ladder, I guess they change it in to a slide instead of a snake to make it more friendlier. As of this time he is enjoying playing with it. He said he won the game when he played with mamu and mamay.

Frontierville

I used to play lots of applications in Facebook. I used to have Farmville, Fishville, Mafia Wars, Vampire Wars, Yoville, Poker, Pet Society, Farm Town, Bejeweled, Barn Buddy, Restaurant City, Typing Maniac, Happy Aquarium, Happy Island, Cafe World etc. That was really a lot, until one day I got tired of everything and told myself to stop. All I'm doing is just reading update from friends, viewing pictures and videos and plugging my blog, lol. Then one day I saw my husband playing Frontierville and he was competing with our neighbor. I decided to try it and olah! got hook again. The game is about making your land beautiful just like farmville you can plant and purchase buildings. But what makes the game exciting are the quests. Right now I am at level 24 and still counting. My husband is already at level 48. Let see how far can I stay on this.

Team Building at Forest Club

Last August 7, 2010 we had our team building at Forest Club Eco Resort. This is the first time that we had team building activity for the outing. My experienced before was just outing so everyone can do their own thing. This time it is more exciting and more fun. The day was started with different games like relay race, buko race, trust fall, spider web etc. It was really fun and the most of the games are breath taking, hehehe. Every one are shouting and cheering for their team. After the game we had a yummy lunch. I remember we had pork sinigang, fish, chopsuey, banana and iced tea. Then we are given time to relax in the warm pool or stroll in the vicinity. I was not able to go around and see the lagoon or climb the bamboo bridge since we go straight ahead to the pool. The bikini open contest makes the noon sizzling, wooot. It was free time after that; some stayed on the pool, some enjoyed drinking, some enjoyed singing in the videoke, some take a nap and siesta time for others. It was a very tiring day but very fun and full of activities. Truly it makes the people of APC more closer to each other, it makes the bond more stronger.  Before we go home pansit, puto and juice was served. We are divided to three teams, blue, red and yellow. I belong to Blue Team who actually won in the said event. Yey! All of the member got a UPB10, yahooo!!!

Team Yellow
Team Blue
Team Red

Tetel from Team Yellow

Blue Team cheering for Lynette

Myra from the Red Team

I find this game really hard, needs concentration and team cooperation.

Me running on the Buko Race, hehehe

Evil World

I rarely watch television. Earlier while waiting for my phone to ring at work I visited gmanews.tv. I've read different news about politics, showbiz, regional news etc. It really saddens me of what is happening to our world. I've read a story of a high school student who killed his classmate by stabbing him with a screw driver, a story of an OFW who got pregnant by a different guy due to loneliness working abroad, a story of an OFW who went back to the Philippines and find out that her son is did not enrolled to any school and just wasted the money that she is sending, a man who killed an abortionist because he is against with what he is doing, a debate in the Philippines if we will make abortion legal or not, statistics showing an increase in number of abortion in the country, corruption in the government, broken families, a mother accidentally killed her daughter by putting her inside a sack as a punishment, a mother because of poverty tries to sell her baby for only P1000... lots of bad news. There are some good news but are very very few. Reading these articles melts my heart and at the same time makes me afraid. I also hear stories within our area about holdapers, murder, rape, etc. I work at graveyard shift so I always travel at night. Thinking about what is happening around me scares me that I might be with these bad guys on my way to work. Every time I ride a vehicle going to work I always whisper "God please guide us." I guess evil will always be there as long as we are here on earth. I pray to God not to experience any trauma that might cause me to have great anger that can swallow me.

Winrho vs Rhogam

Before I give birth to my 2nd child I am already aware that I need Rhogam before and after pregnancy. I was able to get it from Makati Medical Center during my first injection. When I was about to give birth Makati Medical Center got out of stock of Rhogam. My OB give me a phone number to call and I was told they have Winrho, which is an alternative for Rhogam. Since Makati Med is unable to give me a date when Rhogam will be available we decided to purchase Winrho even if its price is twice as much as Rhogam. Imagine it cost around P15k, wew! If I remember it right it has 2 vials inside it, a power and a liquid that you can use to dilute it. While Rhogam is a vaccine ready in a syringe. I wonder what is the big difference between the two. Why does Winrho very very expensive?

A Date with David

Usually when either David or Rhaine has a check up it would all of us who will visit the pedia. But then last Sunday it is only me and David. He needs a follow up to make sure that he no longer have a UTI. We leave early so that he can have urinalysis before his check up. We arrived at SM Southmall at around 10:15am and had his urinalysis. We were told to go back at around 12pm for the result. He is number 11 on the queue but Dra. Estorninos haven't arrived yet. I asked David if he wants to eat at Jollibee since he love the gravy and fried chicken there. Wow! to my surprise he requested for KFC, he said he wanted to have krushers chocolate flavor. I saw that they have a new flavor of krushers which is banana chocolate so I tried that. He did not like it that much. He was not able to consumed it all unlike if I order him oreo flavor. But still he loves the chicken with gravy.

After eating we bought Rhaine's milk and decided to go back to his pedia. But then he said he would like to go to Toy Kingdom to buy toy. Its a good thing that he always agree to buy cheap ones. I told him we don't have enough money to buy expensive toy. We bought a small billiard set for only P100. He is very happy and that makes me smile too. Its only 11:30am and I decided to go back to the lab to see maybe the result for his urinalysis is done. I was able to get it but the doctor just came in. She is only at number 2 so it it still a long way to go. Good thing we brought his Nintendo DS so he has something to play with while waiting. There was a little boy watching and talking to him while we are waiting on the couch. I guess after almost an hour his name was called. Dra. Estornins says he already recovered from UTI. I consulted if tetra pack juice and soft drinks can cause that. She said you cannot get UTI from food. Usually it is caused by germs or bacteria that goes to the urinary tract. Since David is not yet circumcise he is more prone of having germs/bacteria at the tip of his "bird." Her advised is to wash well the tip of his "bird" when he takes a bath also told David not to hold on when he feels like peeing. We went home after that and David fall asleep on the way home.
